The Intolerable Acts:
The Spark of Revolution

             
              Because of revolution, manifested in a new attempt at control by the British forces, the colonists fiercely reacted to the Intolerable Acts as they were an infringement on colonial liberty. This led to reform, as shown through the greater unity among the British colonies, eventually resulting in the creation of the Continental Congress in 1774.

Boston Port Act: closed the port of Boston until the East India Tea company was paid back for the destroyed tea

Massachusetts Government Act
: took away Boston's charter, making them a Royal Colony

Administration of Justice Act
: allowed colonists to be tried in Britain, resulting in unfair trials

Quartering Act
: gave British soldiers permission to stay in abandoned buildings or private properties without the consent of the owner

Quebec Act
: expanded Quebec's territory into land claimed by colonists while also allowing for the free spread of Catholicism
