General Bostonian Reaction
Bostonians in general reacted to the Intolerable Acts with anger. They abused British officials and ignored the new laws with ease, feeling violated and unfairly punished.
- General outrage: The colonists believed their rights were being taken away
Because of Boston Harbor being closed, merchants and consumers alike felt that Britain had
unfairly disrupted business in Boston and surrounding cities.
They also felt that all of Boston was being punished rather than just the ones who had destroyed the tea.
The Quartering Act was accepted as a breech of private property rights as houseowners would have
to provide for British soldiers
By the Massachusetts Government Act, their charter and their government, which was the only way
Bostonians had say in government, was disbanded
